51/6000

I have gone 51 miles so far. only 5,949 miles too go. I have mainly just rode my GF Wahoo to work and back. I did go for a 13 miler down too the Perrine bridge and aroundSE Twin Falls. I have rode my bike every day except for the 2 days I was at my daughters home.

My schedule is messed up this week. I hope to put in some large mileage days. If I had a road bike I could do a lot more miles but my stock 2004 Gary Fisher Wahoo is not the fastest on paved road but it more than does the job. It is versatile.

I've been researching a lot of Fisher bikes. I would love get the Gary Fisher HiFi. I would ride that more on trails and keep my wahoo for around town.

Not a of Fisher bikes in this area. A lot of Walmart bikes. I have seen an old Norco hardtail and a couple of Specialized. I know their are more bikes in this area but I really don't see many. A lot more bike riders up in the Pocatello area.

Gorham Bike Mileage Tracker

http://gorhambike.com/page.cfm?PageID=689

I just started using this last week. It is a fun way to keep track of your miles and compete with others. It keeps your Year to date miles and also the month too date miles. I only started adding my miles from when I startd using the program so it does not include all of my mileage for year to date. Its also free.

96 Degrees

I only rode 6 miles yesterday on june 1st. I have another 3 so far today and will add 3-4 more when I get off of work today. I got a long way to my 6000 mile goal but I will get it moved a lot higher towards my mileage goal of 6000 miles.

It is 96 degrees here in Twin Falls Idaho. I should of got up earlier and went for a ride.
On my way into work I detoured and went on the College Of Southern Idaho's fitness trail.

2004 Gary Fisher Wahoo-My Wahoo History

This is my first non-Wal-mart mountain bike. I have been very happy with it. I bought it from Scotts Ski and Sports in Pocatello Idaho. I put it on lay-away and picked it up for about$350.00 When I took it off of lay away I also had a computer added too it so I could track my mileage and speed.

I never test rode my Wahoo. I simply sat on it in the store. The day that I actually picked it up I did not even know how to downshift. I left the bike shop to pedal home and kept shifting up and when I went to downshift I had too pull over and look at the bike to figure out how. It was real simple. I now love trigger shifters and will NEVER EVER buy a bike that has "grip shifts" or "twist shifts".

A real brief break down of my wahoo. I bought it and put about 250 miles on it. I moved to Twin Falls and left the bike with my mom. She put about 250 miles on it. She brought the bike up too Twin Falls for me and I have put almost another 250 miles on it in 2 months.

How many miles will this Wahoo last me? This pic is Exactly like my Wahoo but it is not my actual bike. I don't have a digital camera yet but when I get one I will post some pics of it.

6000 Miles and 91 pounds

I weigh 291 pounds as of this post. I will start june 1st and ride a total of 6000 miles in total. This will be around town, to work and back, and playing just around on my bike. I figure that at my weight I burn approximately 500 calories an hour by averaging 10 miles per hour overall. With 3500 calories to a pound I will lose a pound for every 7 hours on the bike or 1 pound of lossed weight per 70 miles rode. This is rough math and takes into account an average speed of 10 miles an hour.

I know my math is rough and I am not going into get checked out by a doctor before I begin. Iwill also be using a mountain bike instead of a road bike for now. It's all I have. I have been riding almost daily for the past month and half. I wanna "kick it up a notch".

My goals simplified are
* Too ride my bicycle a total of 6000 miles beginning June 1st 2007
* Too lose fat and Get too a weight of 200-215
* Too Quit smoking

I will be averaging about 10 miles an hour since I have a slow rolling MOuntain Bike. Good for the single track but the tires and weight of my bike are not designed for FLoyd Landis speeds on pavement. Eventually I may get a different bike but for now my bike is the 2004 Gary Fisher Wahoo. Yellow and black with the v-brakes. I will punish this bike with all of the urban miles I will be putting on it. So far this bike has more than paid for itself but I am now taking this too a whole new level.

I riding tomorrow and the day after but my actual miles towards 6000 will begin on june 1st.
